Peyton Love Matthers has been involved with horses for over 23 years. As a junior, she showed on the A circuit in Florida in the pony and Children's hunters, Children's and Junior/Amateur Owner Jumpers and the Children's and Junior Equitation and Medals. She then attended Auburn University as a member of their NCAA Hunt Seat Team, before transferring to the University of Florida where she was Co-Captain of their IHSA Hunt Seat Team and was ranked 5th in Zone 5 Region 3 Over Fences for 2011. She then went on to coach the team for a year, taking the team to a best ever finish of 3rd in the Region and coaching an individual rider to a 6th place finish over fences nationally. In that time, Peyton also worked with the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council as a seasonal Equestrian Director and year round consultant, revamping their entire program and rewriting all of their standards and operating procedures to produce an exciting and highly acclaimed program for young women. After a year of coaching and training on her own, Peyton decided to rejoin the Girl Scout organization and moved to Northwest GA to run the equestrian program at the beautiful Camp Misty Mountain with for the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. In 3 1/2 years there, she developed a wonderful and varied program, including advanced hunter/jumper/equitation instruction and showing opportunities, natural horsemanship programs, barn management and equine care and first aid lessons, novice western horsemanship, extensive trail riding programs and expanded overnight packing and camping with horses. She also initiated and completed multiple large scale projects to improve the barn and program, trained a diverse and talented group of staff and volunteers, and successfully cut budgeted expenses by an average of 15% annually. In December of 2016, Peyton and her husband decided to relocate back to Tampa, FL to be closer to their family and allow Peyton to pursue her passion training and coaching hunter/jumper riders on the show circuit again, with the goal of opening her own show stable in the near future. She currently teaches and trains out of her barn in Ruskin and is available for travel throughout Hillsborough County for training and lessons.
